NASCAR Makes Massive Change At Watkins Glen, New York
If you love NASCAR and make the trip to Watkins Glen every year, get ready for a major change.
The road race at Watkins Glen International in Watkins Glen is one of six road courses on the NASCAR circuit, and has historically been held in August.
That is set to change in 2026.
NASCAR Makes Major Change At Watkins Glen
NASCAR released its schedule for the 2026 season, and you will notice that the date for the Watkins Glen race is not in August. In fact, it is much earlier.
In 2026, the race at Watkins Glen is set to be held on Sunday, May 10th, which is Mother's Day.
Not everyone is happy with the date change. For decades, it was an end-of-summer rite of passage for NASCAR fans to head to the middle of New York State to watch the race.
Now, it will be a battle between celebrating Mother's Day and going to the race. The other major issue is the weather.

If you live in New York, like I do, you know sometimes the weather in May is not great. From heavy rain showers to possible snow showers, the 2026 race at Watkins Glen will be the first time NASCAR officials will have to worry about possible snow showers.
So what do you think? Is moving the race at Watkins Glen to May from August a good or bad idea? You can let us know HERE to send us a message using our APP.
