Those who are trying to attend college in New York State may have some great news coming their way.

The spring semester is just getting started at colleges and universities across New York State and as we enter February, high school seniors are already getting anxious and excited about the end of their school year.

However, it's the next step and how to pay for it that has parents and families anxious especially when it comes to the way they will pay for, or afford college.

But New York State is trying to make it more affordable and, in some cases, FREE to attend for those who are a little older and are caring for their family.

New York State Governor, Kathy Hochul, has a plan that would have the state pay for tuition and books for people 25 to 55 years old if they attend any SUNY or CUNY community college and don't have a prior degree.

This is great news for those who may have thought the dream of getting a college degree was lost. Once you get in a routine with kids and all the responsibilities that come with that, it can be tough to find the funds and time to go back to school or finish a dream of college graduation.

According to at least one study, the cost of a college education is not cheap.

"The total cost of attendance at an average public 4-year institution is $25,398 for in-state students".
