The U.S. Customs and Border Protection has been very busy lately and as we approach the eclipse and Holiday travel, things are starting to heat up for them here in New York State.

The discussion about the borders is an ongoing and highly debated topic. However, beyond the job and hard work of protecting the borders from illegal entry, the Customs officials are constantly monitoring shipments and contraband.

In a news release that was sent to us this week, it was noted that there was a recovery of illegal items by officials in the Rochester area.

According to the report filed and sent to us, "CBP officers at the port of Rochester inspected several shipments that contained multiple “designer” handbags, wallets, clothing, and shoes, amongst other items. After a thorough examination of the merchandise, all the items were determined to be inauthentic and were seized for bearing counterfeit trademarks".

How Are Customs And Border Agents Different?

According to at least one outlet, " Border patrol agents are usually responsible for larger areas, such as off-road regions with few or no other security measures. CBP officers work almost exclusively at ports of entry, such as airports, and may spend more time inspecting packages and processing paperwork than interacting with people".
