The summer means backyard parties, block parties and good times. But for those who enjoy some peace and quiet and like to have the windows open on their homes, the law is on their side.
The Hooting Law In Buffalo, New York
I was searching the laws about noise in Western New York. It came up when a friend and I were talking about mowing the lawn early in the morning. While most areas have a noise ordinance that limits the time when you can run loud equipment, Buffalo is no different.
According to the laws, there are times when you can, and can't, create excessive noise. The law is also clear about the types of noise that are restricted. For example,in Buffalo it is against the law to be: "Yelling, shouting or hooting at any time or place so as to annoy or disturb the quiet, comfort and repose of a reasonable person of normal sensitivities".
The best advice is to be considerate and get to know the neighborhood you are in. If you plan a party, it might be a good idea to let the neighbors know and keep the noise to a minimum.
