Wednesday night a high speed chase turned heads as it passed through the towns of Eden, Evans and Hamburg.

Curious residents were on local town Facebook pages asking their neighbors if they knew any information about the high-speed chase that they witnessed fly through their town.

Police chased a blue truck through Eden

What people saw was a blue truck that was flying through village streets followed by a line of police vehicles.  What they didn't see was what led to it.

According to the Hamburg Police, the pursuit began after a traffic stop was initiated when the blue Ram truck crossed a double yellow line.  Although they initially pulled over for the traffic stop, they fled the scene.  The pursuit began on Route 62 in Eden and went through the town of Evans. As they continued to pursue the truck, the supervisor called it off when it approached the town of Hamburg.

They continued to watch the vehicle with the help of the Erie County Sheriff's Aviation unit until it crashed in the city of Buffalo.

The aftermath is here:

The vehicle had allegedly been stolen from Eden

Police determined that the vehicle was allegedly stolen from Eden.  It was occupied by 26-year-old Kaine Hidy and 27-year-old Dontay Mardino.  Both of them received the appropriate charges after being taken into custody by police after the crash.

It's not often that these towns see something like this pass through their streets.  Kudos to the officers who were able to finally bring an end to this incident without anyone getting hurt.
