Flyover Pilot For Sunday’s Bills Game Is A Grand Island Native
If you're going to the game on Sunday, keep an eye to the sky before kickoff. They'll be having a flyover with a Western New York Native at the controls.
It's easily one of the best parts of any game at Highmark Stadium - The Flyover. It's there and gone in seconds but it's such a cool thing to see. If you've never gotten to experience it, you really should try to someday. The national anthem plays with around 70,000 people singing along. Then suddenly you hear it. It's hard to not feel a surge of patriotism as you realize that you are free to enjoy your Sunday afternoon watching football because there are people in those machines watching over our country and others around the world.
We don't normally get to find out who those pilots are in the aircraft that flyover us. This week though, it's a native from here in Western New York. According to WIVB, one of the pilots will be Grand Island native Lt. Carlee Conway.
Conway graduated from Sacred Heart Academy and then went on to the U.S. Naval Academy where she excelled at tennis and graduated in 2019. She will be flying one of four F-18 Super Hornets which is a type of fighter jet.
Get to the stadium early if you want to see it. While the security staff are pretty quick, there is a huge crowd to get through. The Bills will be back at Highmark Stadium Sunday at 1pm to kick off against the Tennessee Titans.
