Have you been sick yet? Did you get a flu shot? The winter is here and the cases of the flu are on the rise in Western New York.

If you have kids, there is a good chance that you have already been home with them for a sick day. The coughs, stomach flu and fevers have made there way around classrooms and in to homes this season.

But just a couple weeks after the holiday rush and we are seeing a bit of a spike in the amount of reported cases.

New York State has a very helpful Flu Tracker that updates the amount of reported cases each week.

In the most recent reports, the number of cases by county in the Western New York area have jumped a tad.

Erie and Monroe Counties seem to have the biggest number of reported cases with Erie at 336 and Monroe at 498 cases. In total, the counties in Western New York reported 1500 cases. SEE YOUR COUNTY HERE.

I have become THAT dad that who is constantly nagging my kids to wash their hands and cover the cough. Will it stop the germs? Maybe. But my point in getting on them is so they at least make an effort. Not only can it be helpful in keep the germs at bay, it is also the polite thing to do. We all know adults who lack in that area.

Health officials tell us that we still have time to get a Flu shot as we are just getting to the heart of the flu season.
