Who is Craig Anderson?

Craig Anderson is a former goalie that played in the NHL from 2001 through 2023.  He played for multiple teams throughout his career including the Chicago Blackhawks, the Florida Panthers, the Colorado Avalanche, the Ottawa Senators, the Washington Capitals, and he finished his career with the Buffalo Sabres.

How long did Anderson play for the Sabres and Senators?

He was only with the Sabres for two seasons from 2021-2023.  But his longest tenure was easily with the Ottawa Senators.  He was there from 2011-2020.

Why is he signing with the Senators again?

Anderson is said to be signing a one day contract with the Senators so that he will have the opportunity to retire officially as an Ottawa Senator.  It's something that many people are applauding the Senators for doing.

Anderson was a record holder with the Senators.  He was the first Ottawa Senator to earn the Bill Masterton Trophy which is awarded to the NHL player that exhibits qualities of perseverance, sportsmanship, and dedication to ice hockey.  He still holds the lowest GAA in a season (1.69) (2012–13) and the best save percentage in that season.
