Top Places To Find Coffee On Thanksgiving In Western New York

Thanksgiving isn't just about a turkey dinner. There's a lot that goes on aside from the food. People are running the Turkey Trot and preparing for Black Friday sales. They're playing in "Turkey bowls." We like to attend church and then distribute meals to the needy before we eat. It's a busy day. You're going to want to start your day with some coffee... probably a lot of it. The question is whether your favorite place will be open.

Restaurants being open on holidays can create the biggest moral conflict

There is a huge catch-22 with restaurants being open on holidays. Everyone wants everything to be open and available for them 24/7, but they forget that someone has to work for that to happen. It's tough when you believe that people should be able to spend as much time as possible with their families on holidays.

It makes you feel a little bit like Ebeneezer Scrooge to expect someone to be there just so you can get coffee.

Then again, some people might be counting on that shift to pad their paycheck a little before Christmas.

Have any coffee shops announced that they will be closed on Thanksgiving?

For the most part, many of the coffee chains will be open in some capacity on Thanksgiving. The question is, how long will they be open? Many of them are independent franchises so they will be able to decide on a store-by-store basis if they will be open and for how long. Your best bet is to simply call or talk to your favorite location this week.

Most of the local places are closed for the holiday. I reached out to a bunch of them on Facebook and Instagram, and many said they would not be open.

Only a few local shops WILL be open on Thanksgiving

One of the few that WILL be open on Thanksgiving morning is Paula's Donuts locations. They will be open from 7am until noon on Thanksgiving morning and will hold regular hours on Black Friday. So if you need a quick pick-me-up before spending a whole day with your family, they'll have you covered.

Also, in the northtowns, Steamworks Coffee on Canal Street in Lockport will be open from 8am until 1 pm on Thanksgiving morning.

If coffee chains work for you, you'll unfortunately have to check with your favorite individual store for their availability.
