You may have heard the word "crepe" but do you actually know what they are? And if you know what they are, where can you go to get one in Western New York.

Just saying that you're going out for some crepes sounds fancy, doesn't it? But if you went to a restaurant and ordered one, what would you get?

What is a crepe?

In the simplest definition, a crepe is a very thin French pancake.  It's made with a simple recipe of eggs, milk, flour, and melted butter. They can be made to be more savory or more sweet.

Then they can be filled with just about anything you'd like. Sweet crepes are normally filled with something like fruits, jams, Nutella, or chocolate. Savory crepes are often filled or topped with things like meats, cheeses, vegetables, and cream cheese. The savory ones are normally made with something like buckwheat.

Where can you find crepes in Western New York?

I have to be honest, I've never made a crepe.  Everything that I've ever read says that they're actually pretty easy to make.  But why make them yourself when you can just go out and buy them?  Crepes originated in France so it's not uncommon to find creperies all over the place there.  However, here in Western New York, it's a little bit harder to find a place that makes them. Think about it, when is the last time you went into a restaurant and saw crepes on the menu?  It's possible.  Those restaurants do exist.  But where do you find them?
