You can receive alerts right on your phone from New York. Just text your county's name to 333111 to start getting real time alerts and updates. There is no fee and any carrier or service provider qualifies.

It is a way more efficient way than the old days when we would get alerts on a crawl on TV or a breaking news clip from our local stations.
