The tolls are already getting out of control in New York State and now one toll is going to be even higher, but only at certain times of the day.

The move is being met with wild remarks and tons of criticism for Governor Hochul and New York State. There is a toll that drivers are going to have to pay NINE DOLLARS if you drive there between 5 in the morning and 9 at night if you want to get to a certain part of New York State. If you are trying to enter Manhattan, the toll is now 9 dollars and the federal government is trying to end it ASAP.

According to CarandDriver.com, here is why the tolls are going to be increasing in this one specific spot:

A new tolling system is now in place in New York City, charging drivers to enter parts of Manhattan. The congestion-pricing charge is $9 during peak hours for passenger vehicles. The funding from this toll is meant to support projects aimed at improving public transit".

If you are driving a bus or a truck, the toll during those peak times is going to cost you over $14. The regular amount is $2.50 for all other times of the night.

Now, the federal government is mad that New York State is doing this to drivers. They are trying to stop it from happening and reverse it, but New York State is not budging. The federal government gave New York 30 days to change the tolling increase.

U.S. Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy on Thursday said he was giving the state an additional 30 days as “discussions continue” on the Republican administration’s demand.

Tolls in New York State are already crazy and if you do not have an EZ Pass, the price for the tolls is much higher. If you do not have an EZ Pass, they are going to send a bill to your house and if you do not pay it on time, the late charge is 50 bucks and after a second late charge you will be sent to collections.
