Today is Fat Tuesday and while much of the country will be looking for a baby in a cake, we here in Western New York will be downing delicious Polish donuts called Paczki. But are you saying it right?

Paczki is deep-fried pieces of dough shaped into spheres, like a donut, and filled with cream or other sweet fillings. Paczkis are usually covered with powdered sugar, icing, glaze, or bits of dried orange zest.

Growing up in West Seneca, it was always a tradition for my family to buy some Paczki and go over to my grandparent's home in Cheektowaga on Fat Tuesday. My grandma would make Polish Sausage for dinner and then everyone would enjoy a paczki or two for dessert.
