Here is what's happening around Western New York for your Thursday.

1 – The warm humid weather is set to return to Western New York. We are looking at well-above average temperatures across the 716 today and through the next week or so. Today’s high is expected to be around 83 with plenty of sunshine. While it will be warm, you won’t be close to setting a record. The current record high for September 12th in Buffalo is 91 degrees which was set back in 1952.

2 – It looks like the lottery winning has continued here in New York. The New York State announced that a 3rd place winning ticket was sold in the state from last night’s Powerball drawing. That ticket matched four out of five numbers and also had the Powerball. The best part was that the ticket also had the Powerplay which was 3x the prize amount, which means that the winning ticket is worth $150,000.

3- The Erie County Health Department is holding two free pet rabies clinics this month. The first one will take place this Saturday from 9 am until 1 pm at the Erie County Training and Operations Center in Cheektowaga. The next free rabies clinic will be next Saturday from 9 am until 1 pm at ECC South. While the clinics are free you do need to register your pets before the event. You can sign up to three dogs, cats, or ferrets per appointment.

4 – The Buffalo Bills got some good news this week as defensive end Greg Rousseau was named the AFC Defensive Player of the Week. “Groot” had 3 sacks in the Bills win over the Arizona Cardinal The Bills need another big game from Rousseau tonight as the Bills are down in Miami to take on the Dolphins on Thursday Night football. You will be able to watch the game locally on Channel 7 or using your Amazon Prime account.

5 – A long running Western New Restaurant is set to open up a new location today. Jim’s Steakout is set to open the doors to their 11th location in Western New York. The new Jim’s is located near 5 Corners in Orchard Park. There will be a special ribbon-cutting ceremony at 10 o'clock this morning.

 

6 – Trans-Siberian Orchestra is coming back to Buffalo. They are set to return to KeyBank Center on December 4th. Jeff Plate the drummer for TSO said that you will see a new show this year (audio) Pre-sale tickets go on sale this morning at 10 am. 7 - You don’t want to miss this week’s We Are Buffalo dining deal. This week’s deal is a $50 gift card for only $25 to Ahola Crab at the Galleria Mall. 8 - Get ready to shop to you drop as the World’s Largest Yards sale returns this weekend to the Hamburg Fairgrounds. The World’s Largest Yard sale takes place Friday and Saturday 9 am until 4 pm each day. There will be over 200 local artisans, local crafters, home retailers, and more.
