You might have noticed it has cost a lot more this month to fill up your gas tank here in Western New York. Gas prices are on the rise; here is what you are looking at paying per gallon.

According to AAA, the average price of a gallon of gas in the Buffalo and Niagara Falls region is $4.34. This is up about 6 cents from last week and up nearly 15 cents from last month.

If you look at this time of year in 2025, the average price of a gallon of gas was nearly $1.20 cheaper. Last year, the average price of a gallon of regular unleaded gas was $3.20

Record Highs For Gas In Western New York?

With gas prices rising every week, we are getting close to hitting the record high for a gallon of regular unleaded gas. The current record was set back on June 12th, 2022. The price of a gallon of gas back on that date was $4.90 per gallon.

I don't think we will hit that mark in the month of September, but if the current average increase continues, we could reach that mark in October or November.

Cheapest Gas Prices In Western New York

If you are on the hunt for the cheapest gas in Western New York. According to GasBuddy.com, you will need to travel to one of those membership stores. Costco, BJ's, and Sam's Club all have gas at less than $4.00 per gallon.

Of course, you need to be a member to get those discounted prices.

Gas prices are climbing again, with the national average now sitting around $4.53 a gallon according to AAA, the highest since 2022.
