Slow-moving storms will be moving across New York State today, bringing heavy rain, thunderstorms, and possible flooding to certain areas of the state.

Flood Watch Issued For Parts Of New York State

A flood watch has been issued for parts of Central New York starting at 11 am and lasting until tonight.

That watch has been issued for Oneida, Yates, Seneca, Cayuga, Onondaga, Steuben, Schuyler, Tompkins, Madison, Monroe, Wayne, Oswego, Lewis, Livingston, Ontario, and Allegany.


According to the National Weather Service in Buffalo and Binghamton, over 1 inch of rain per hour is possible to leading to flooding issues.

Showers and thunderstorms will develop across the region. Locally heavy rainfall is possible with rainfall rates near, or exceeding 1" per hour at times. Repeated storms over any given location will have the potential to lead to poor drainage flooding and Flash Flooding.
