Check out some things that only locals know about the fair.
BRING YOUR OWN FOOD
Everyone complains that the price for food and drink is too high. But you can bring in your own food and non-alcoholic drinks. Pack a lunch, throw it in a bag, and sit on one of the benches and enjoy.
TRAFFIC IS BAD
Yes. Mckinley is like a parking lot heading to the Fairgrounds. Locals know to avoid that stretch of road along with not turning left from the Southwestern. You can avoid the traffic by going down Camp or South Park Ave.
ENTER USING A DIFFERENT ENTRANCE
If you want to avoid the lines on McKinley Parkway, enter the fairgrounds at one of the more off-beaten paths.
YOU CAN SEE THE FIREWORKS FROM OUTSIDE THE GROUNDS
If you want to avoid the crowds leaving the fairgrounds' parking lot, there are plenty of places to park and watch the nightly fireworks. They are set to begin at 9:30 pm every night.
THERE IS A LOT OF ENTERTAINMENT
The Erie County Fair has some of the best entertainment in the area and not just the bands. They have great performers all day every day.
YOU CAN GET TEXT ALERTS WHEN COWS ARE BEING BORN
Yes, the Erie County Fair will send out alerts to your phone when a new calf is being born. Text "ILOVECOWS" to 866-866-1002 to get alerts (Standard data and text rates apply)
