Wholesale egg prices have dropped significantly across the country and with that the retail price of eggs has also dropped a lot since their record-high price back in December.
The price for a dozen large Grad A eggs almost doubled in price in 2022 as an avian flu outbreak impacted many of the suppliers of the nation's eggs.
According to Urner Barry, a marketing company that tracks the prices of goods and services, the price for a dozen eggs was down nearly 50% from the record-high price set back in December of 2022.
Back in December, the average cost of a dozen of eggs was around $5.43, now the average price is around $2.61.
That means the stream of wholesale eggs into New York State will remain steady and with the supply back on track, the wholesale price should continue to drop or hold steady across the region which means the same hold true for the retail prices of eggs in New York.
