Now that the Christmas season is here, you will hear a very familiar voice on your television. One of the most popular Christmas movies of all time has a tie to Western New York.

Western New York Native In Popular Christmas Movie

If you are like me, you love watching the classic Christmas movies during the Christmas season. One of my favorite ones is "The Year Without A Santa Claus." It features some catchy songs and two of my favorite characters, Mr Heatmiser and Snowmiser.

You might not know this, but one of the many characters in the movie might sound like your uncle, dad, or grandpa. One of the main characters, the "Snowmiser," was voiced by Lackawanna Native Dick Shawn is the voice of the "Snowmiser" in the TV Classic.

If you ever sang the song from the movie, "I'm Mister Ten Below, Friends call me Snow Miser, Whatever I touch Turns to snow in my clutch, I'm too much!", you are following the footsteps of a Western New York Native.

Shawn was on several major TV hits, including The Ed Sullivan Show, Three's Company, on which he played Jack Tripper's father, St. Elsewhere, and Magnum, P.I.

Some people might know Shawn for his last performance. He suffered a heart attack on stage in the middle of one of his shows. Most people in the audience assumed it was all part of his act and refused to leave the auditorium after a doctor began to administer CPR.
