Deadly Fentanyl Laced Drugs Found In Western New York

Fentanyl laces drugs are becoming a problem in Western New York and according to Erie County Executive Mark Poloncarz, they are responsible for seven deaths this past Monday.

WHAT IS FENTANYL?

Fentanyl is a man-made synthetic opioid drug that was first developed in the 1960s. It is a strong painkiller that was used to treat severe chronic pain. According to several studies, Fentanyl is a lot more potent than heroin and a hundred times stronger than morphine.

IS FENTANYL ILLEGAL?

No, Fentanyl is available by prescription and is usually given to cancer patients or people who suffer from severe chronic pain.

WHY IS FENTANYL SO DANGEROUS?

One of the biggest problems is that people are using Fentanyl without knowing it. With how potent the medicine is this could cause a severe reaction or even death after just one use.
