ESPN Created a Hypothetical Trade: Bills Fans Hate It
The NFL season has been over for three weeks and this is the time of the year when we get hypothetical signings, trades and those amazing mock drafts that we dive head-first into.
The next two months are honestly, the most fun time of year for NFL fans. Free agency and the NFL Draft.
There are a ton of unknowns around the league this year. So many teams don't quite know who will be their opening day starter and there are plenty of big-name offensive players who are slated to become unrestricted free agents on March 16th.
Two big-name running backs, who will not be free agents, have been the talk of trade rumors. One has been rumored to go to the Buffalo Bills, but is there any truth to the Bills having interest?
The running back is Carolina Panther, Christian McCaffrey.
McCaffrey is regarded as one of the best all-around backs in football. He has a breakout 2019 season, where he had nearly 2,400 total yards rushing and receiving. He caught 116 passes for over 1,000 yards and nearly 1,400 rushing yards. An incredible season.
However, McCaffrey has had a problem staying healthy the last two seasons. He's only played 10 total games and is health is a reason why Carolina might decide to part with him, even though McCaffrey signed a four-year contract extension, worth $64 million in 2020.
ESPN's television show, Get Up, posted a hypothetical trade on Thursday.
It shows the Bills acquiring McCaffrey for the 25th overall pick in the 2022 NFL Draft.
Bills fans did not seem happy with giving up a first round pick for an often injured running back, as good as McCaffrey has been when healthy.
I agree that it's too much of a price to pay. Maybe for a third round pick, second even is questionable. I would not give up a first round pick for Christian McCaffrey.
