In the latest rankings of the best 150 cities in America, US News and World Report ranked Buffalo as the 45th best city in the entire country. That is big news since Buffalo was ranked 75th in 2021.

Besides being the 45th overall best place to live in the entire county, Buffalo was ranked as the #99 best place to retire, #4 best place to live in New York State, and the #19 cheapest place to live in America.
US News and World Report used five different categories to determine the overall score for each city on the list. The categories were Job Market, Value Index, Quality of life index, the desirability of life index, and net migration aka the difference in the number of people moving into the city and away from the city.
The #1 overall city on the list was Huntsville, Alabama which got high marks for value and quality of life.
The other major cities in New York were ranked in this order:
Albany was ranked #21 overall and #1 in New York.
Syracuse was ranked #38 overall and #2 in New York.
Rochester was ranked #41 overall and #3 in New York.
So while Buffalo may still lag behind some other cities in New York and the country the good news is that Buffalo is on the rise.
