Can The Buffalo Sabres Still Make The Playoffs?
The Buffalo Sabres dropped another game, this time in overtime to Montreal, and that has lowered their chances of making the NHL playoffs this season to almost nothing.
The Sabres currently have 54 points and are in last place in both the Eastern Conference and the Atlantic Division. While they are not yet mathematically eliminated, the chances the Sabres making the playoffs are miniscue.
What are the odds the Buffalo Sabres make the playoffs this season?
According to the website playoffstatus.com, the odds of the Buffalo Sabres ending the longest playoff drought in the NHL is now under 1%. The highest chance the Sabres make the playoffs comes if they win 20 out of their final 23 games. If they were to go on a crazy winning streak, they still only have a 58% chance of making the playoffs as the 7th seed.
Right now based on their current record, the Sabres have a 99% chance of missing the playoffs this year. The last time the Sabres made the playoffs was during the 2010-11 season. That year they lost in the quarter finals to the Philadelphia Flyers.
