Is It Possible The Buffalo Sabres Make The Playoffs?
The Buffalo Sabres are back at Keybank Center this afternoon and many fans are wondering if it is still possible for them to make the playoffs this year.
The Buffalo Sabres haven't been in the playoffs since the 2010-11 season, making it the longest playoff drought in the NHL and tied with the New York Jets for longest drought in all four pro sport leagues in North America.
We know the Sabres are currently last in the Atlantic Division and in the Eastern Conference, so what are the chances they can still make the playoffs this season?
The answer is not good.

According to the website playoffstatus.com, the odds that the Sabres can make the playoffs are less than 1%.
Right now, the odds are against them, but they have not been mathematically eliminated yet.
There are a couple of scenarios that "could" happen that would lead the Sabres to possibly making the playoffs
If the Sabres were to win their final 18 games of the season, they would have a 47% chance of getting the 7th seed in the playoffs.
They would have even better odds of getting the 8th seed even if they go 17 out 18 to end the season. If they win 17 games they have a 53% chance of getting the 8th and final seed in the NHL playoffs.
If the Sabes stumble and lose two of their final 18 games, the odds of them making the playoffs would only be 39%.
Anything less than 15 wins out of their final 18 games means another year out of the playoffs for the Sabres.
So what do you think, can the Sabres make the playoffs this season? Let me know using the station APP.
