Meet The Newest Buffalo Bill: Maxwell Hairston
Day one of the NFL draft is in the books, and while there were plenty of trades and movement, the Buffalo Bills stayed put at pick #30 and drafted Maxwell Hairston.
Who is Maxwell Hairston?
Hairston is a cornerback who played at the University of Kentucky. He is expected to compete against Tre White during training camp for the #2 cornerback spot opposite Christian Beneford.
Maxwell Hairston's College Career
The red-shirt junior played in 32 games for the Wildcats. He had a career total of 71 solo tackles and 6 career interceptions. He also recorded one sack during his college career. Hairston only played in 7 games last year after hurting his shoulder.
What Does Maxwell Hairston Bring To The Bills Defense?
One word....SPEED. Hairston ran a 4.28 40-yard dash at the NFL combine, the fastest for a cornerback this year. He is also known as a fluid cornerback who plays safe and doesn't give up the long ball. He is expected to compete for a starting spot right away.
Maxwell Hairston's Weaknesses
The biggest knock against Hairston is that he is not aggressive enough and can get knocked off the ball by wide receivers. According to NFL.com, Hairston has an overall draft prospect of 6.37 out of 8, which means he should become a starter in the NFL.

The big question is wether the newest first round pick will be more like Tre White who was drafted by the Bills in the first round in 2017 or like Kaiir Elam who was the Bills first round pick in 2022.
I am hoping that Max becomes more like White!
