According to a new study by realestatewitch.com, Buffalo is a top city for beer lovers.

WHAT MAKES A CITY A TOP BEER CITY?

The survey used 8 different factors to to come up with the best cities for beer lovers. They included:

• Breweries per 100,000 people (17%)
• Average price of one beer across various sizes, including draft pints and 12 oz. bottles, both in restaurants and in markets (13%)
• Affordability of domestic beer: Percentage of the area’s average annual income required to afford one domestic beer (16 oz.) at a restaurant each day (13%)
• Affordability of imported beer: Percentage of the area’s average annual income required to afford one imported beer (12 oz.) at a restaurant each day (13%)
• Average Yelp rating of breweries in the city (13%)
• Average Yelp rating of bars in the city (13%)
• Bars per 100,000 people (9%)
• “Beer passion” score — a combination of Google search volume for 17 different beer-related terms, such as “microbrewery,” “lager,” and “pilsner” (9%)

WHERE DID BUFFALO LAND ON THE LIST?

After breaking down all the factors, Buffalo was ranked 15th Best overall city in the country for beer drinkers. Buffalo was the #1 ranked city in New York State.

WHAT MAKES BUFFALO A GREAT CITY FOR BEER DRINKERS?

The number reason Buffalo was ranked a top city for beer drinkers was that there are a lot of bars in the area. In fact, Buffalo has 28 bars per 100,000 people which is about 47% more than average.

WHAT CITY IS THE NUMBER #1 CITY FOR BEER DRINKERS?

The good news is that you don't have to travel far from Buffalo to find it. The number 1 city for beer drinkers is only 4 hours away. The #1 city is Pittsburgh. There are more breweries bars per capita than any other city.
