Arnold Schwartzenegger and Maria Shriver Separate

Former California Gov. Arnold Schwartzenegger and Maria Shriver announced their separation yesterday according to Yahoo News, ending a sometimes-turbulent 25-year relationship.

"After a great deal of thought, reflection, discussion, and prayer, we came to this decision together," the statement said.

They had marked their 25th wedding anniversary in April. About a month before the anniversary, Shriver had written on her Facebook page that she was going through a transition in her life.

Shriver and Schwartzenegger are known in social circles for their charitable work.
