Amazon Will Be Delivering Less Of These To New York
There are some major changes coming to what Amazon will be dropping off at homes all across New York.
The giant online retailer announced it will be cutting down on the amount of boxes that it sends to people's homes.
I recently saw a commercial where Amazon was announcing that they plan on sending more items in the product's original packaging. Basically, if the item can safely be shipped in the manufacturer package, Amazon will no longer put it in a brown box and then ship it.

The idea behind the new program is to reduce shipping costs and reduce the amount of cardbox waste that is produced.

Products like pet food, toys, and other items that are already in a box or package will no longer be packaged up to ship. Other items like clothing or small items will be shipped in an envelope instead of a box.
Also if you shop Amazon Prime you might have noticed that Amazon asks you to package your orders to be shipped on the same day so that multiple items can be packaged together and shipped to your home.

One of the big concerns of this program is porch pirates. if items are in the original boxes, thieves can see exactly what is on your front porch and it might make them more apt to steal that item.
The other drawback is that if you order a present for someone and it ships in the original packaging, they will know what the item is.
The program is still relatively new so mass changes won't happen overnight, but soon you might see more products and fewer boxes on your front porch.
