First 90 Degree Day Of 2026 This Week In Western New York

Summer weather is coming this week to Western New York. After a below-average start to the season with our high temperatures, things will change this week as some very hot and humid weather is coming our way.

Buffalo's 1st 90 Degree Day Possible This Week

Things will be hot and humid across Western New York this week.

According to the National Weather Service in Buffalo, we could see our first high temperature of 90 degrees or more in 2026.

Here is a look at this week's forecast for Western New York

Monday - Mostly Sunny skies with a high near 86
Tuesday - Morning sunshine with possible afternoon thunderstorms. Very humid. High of 90
Wednesday - Mostly sunny with a high near 86
Thursday - Sunny with a high near 91
Friday - Morning sunshine giving way to afternoon rain and possible thunderstorms. High near 88

On average, Buffalo and Western New York will hit 90 degrees or warmer 4 or 5 times a year. The last time we hit 90 or more was back in August of 2025. It was on August 12th, and it was the last day of a "Heatwave" in Western New York.

A "heatwave" is two or more consecutive days of hot temperatures and high humidity. The high temperatures need to be well above average over that time period, which means we could have a "heatwave" this week in Western New York.
