Deadline Approaching For $1400 Refund In New York State
Time is running out for New Yorkers to claim $1400 in refunds. The IRS announced that the deadline for New York State residents to claim the 2021 Recovery Rebate Credit is coming up on April 15th.
What Is The 2021 Recovery Rebate Credit?
The US Government issued refund checks to most taxpayers in 2021 as part of the economic recovery project after the COVID-19 pandemic. The 2021 recovery rebate credit was issued to people who did not receive one or more Economic Impact Payments, also known as stimulus payments.
How can I apply for the 2021 Recovery Rebate Credit?
If you are eligible for the rebate and you filed your taxes for 2021, you are automatically part of the program and should have or will receive the rebate check. If you did not file your taxes in 2021, you now have until April 15th to file for the 2021 tax year. When you file, you will be automatically enrolled in the rebate credit program, and if you are eligible, you will receive a check for up to $1400.
To be part of the program, you will need to file a 2021 Federal tax return even if your minimum income did not require you to file to be part of the program.
