Dwayne Johnson’s ‘Jumanji’ Sequel Adds Karen Gillan
Up until now, the cast of Dwayne Johnson’s new Jumanji movie (which he says is a sequel, not a reboot) has been dominated entirely by men, so today’s casting update is a fairly refreshing one. If you were concerned that Jumanji might just star a bunch of dudes (charming dudes, but still), you can stop worrying because Karen Gillan is officially the first woman to join the cast.

As you’ve seen in the trailers, Ben Affleck’s Batman makes an appearance in Suicide Squad, which makes sense given that A. It’s a DC Comics movie and B. It features The Joker — you can’t exactly have a movie starring Batman’s arch-nemesis without including Batman himself. Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice was never not going to have an enormous opening weekend. Toxic reviews and mixed word of mouth mean nothing next to hype — that title alone guaranteed a record-breaking start. And right now, Zack Snyder’s superhero epic does look like a gigantic hit. However, this weekend is really all about the trailers and posters and Warner Bros.’ omnipresent marketing. The real challenge will be next weekend, when the film’s legs will be properly tested.

Record Breaking Weekend
Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice had quite the weekend — not only did it break the March opening record previously held by The Hunger Games, but with $424 million worldwide, Zack Snyder’s epic now boasts the highest opening weekend for a Warner Bros. superhero movie. All those negative reviews predictably had zero effect on audiences, who flocked to see the long-awaited showdown between the Dark Knight and the Man of Steel.

Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice smashed box office records over the weekend, and while we wait for the dust to settle to see just how successful it will become, Zack Snyder has been opening up about a few key moments in the film. It’s that particular plot development that Snyder addresses in his latest interview, which sheds some light on his future Justice League plans. Spoilers ahead!

Warner Bros. has confirmed that Malone’s mystery character will not be featured in the theatrical release of Zack Snyder’s superhero epic, but she will appear on the R-rated Ultimate Edition, which hits DVD and Blu-ray later this year.

‘Batman vs. Superman’ Is a ‘Very Serious’ Movie, Says Jesse Eisenberg
Noted Comic-Con hater, actor and apparently now writer, Jesse Eisenberg, appeared on NBC’s Today to promote his upcoming book of short stories “Bream Gives Me Hiccups” and talk eventually turned to Batman vs. Superman. It was at this point that Eisenberg, who plays Lex Luthor in the upcoming superhero movie, assured us all that not only is Batman vs. Superman a “phenomenal” movie, but that’s it’s also a “very serious” movie. To which, the entire universe responded with a resounding, no freaking duh.
