It is a bad week to be a sports fan here in Buffalo.

On the heels of a heart-breaking loss by the Buffalo Bills on Monday Night Football, this morning Buffalo sports fans are learning that the Buffalo Sabres will be without one of their star players due to an injury.

The Buffalo Sabres announced that Tage Thompson is expected to miss a significant amount of time after he was injuried in Tuesday night's 5-2 loss to the Boston Bruins.

Thompson was injuried in the 2nd period when a shot from the point hit his hand. It was the second time in the game that Thompson was injuried. He suffered a lower-body injury in the 1st period but was able to come back. Now it looks like he will miss some time with a wrist injury.

Thompson is the third-leading scorer for the Sabres this season. He has scored 6 goals and has 6 assists for a total of 12 points so far this season in 16 games. He was the team's leading scorer last season with 47 goals and 47 assists for a total of 94 points.
