Mother's Day is coming up this Sunday and being a mom is one of the toughest jobs in Western New York.

The treat of all treats in Western New York. Father Baker's was a home for troubled youth and if you were acting up, chances are Mom would threaten to drop you off there unless you started behaving.

MAKE SURE TO PUT WONDERBREAD BAGS IN YOUR WINTER BOOTS

How did moms in Western New York keep their kid's feet dry when they were playing in the snow? Plastic wonderbread bags. Every kid in Western New York grew up with the reminder to put bags on their feet before they put on their snow boots.

IF YOU DON'T FINISH YOUR DINNER YOU CAN'T HAVE A PASTRY HEART

Buffalo is known for its food but as a kid, chances are you were super picky. But of course, all that went out the door when you wanted dessert. For me, growing up the best treat was a homemade pastry heart. Crunchy and gooey at the same time, Mom used to threaten to not allow us to have one if we didn't finish dinner.

Growing up here in Western New York means sometimes you had to go trick-or-treating in a couple of inches or feet of snow. Only moms in Western New York had to ask their kids to try on their Halloween costumes over a winter jacket, just in case.

NO, YOU CAN'T GO INTO CANADA WITH YOUR FRIENDS

One advantage for kids growing up in Western New York is that Canada is only like 20 minutes away. For teens that means you could cross over the border and legally drink at the age of 19 instead of waiting until you are 21 in the States. How many kid's plans were shot down because mom wouldn't let them cross the border?
